Guitar Srtings

Help with choosing a guitar?

I want to get an Acoustic Guitar, but i want the best guitar for my very cheap price range ($50-$120). So far, i really like the Epiphone PR-150 Acoustic Guitar ($80). but i heard that i should get a different set of srtings for it. So my questions are, Is the epiphone pr-150 a good guitar? would you reccomend it for a beginner? what are the best strings to use? and what are some good brands of picks to use? heres a link to the epiphone pr 150- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-PR-150-Acoustic-Guitar-101832319-i1166292.gc

That guitar is something I’d recommend to a beginner. The reason: it’s cheap. If you give up, which sadly too many people do, it won’t be a total waste. In my experience, I trust Epiphone to make a decent cheap guitar. It won’t be great, but it’ll play.

I like to use Martin strings on my acoustics. I’d suggest getting the light or medium gauge strings, (11’s or 12’s, respectively) although personally I use 13’s. The lighter strings will be easier on your fingers, I just happen to prefer the sound of the heavier ones.

Picks are picks are picks. I like the heavy gauge Dunlop Tortex picks, the yellow ones with the turtle, but most people I’ve come across like medium picks. Really, though, the brand doesn’t matter, just don’t go using a quarter as a pick, it’s terrible on your strings. Picks are picks are picks.
