Guitar Nut Lubricant?

Im changing my strings and im just wandering what will help the strings move more easily over the nut , preferably household items ( i don’t have a pencil either )

Here’s a Special Guitar World secret, my friend. For our money nothing is better than a little WD-40. Here’s how you do it.

Take off your strings and apply the WD-40 direclty to the nut. Next, put your strings on and spray again so that a little of the lubricant gets into the grooves of your strings. Finally, rub your index finger over the nut to make sure the 40 gets into all the nooks and crannies. After that you should be good to go.
