Guitar Humbucker Pickups
Are humbucker pickups for guitars active or passive?
I was wondering if humbucker pickups are active or passive?
All high output humbuckers can be used without onboard active electronics and are as such passive. Sometimes, guitars come with passive humbuckers and an active preamp/tone control circuit which can eliminated by using a bypass switch. Hence, such guitars allow for both active and passive use of the pickups.
