Can you use songs from audio cds and play them in guitar hero 2 or 3?

I have been thinking about purchasing either Guitar Hero 2 or 3 when it’s released and was wondering if we can rip tracks from audio cd’s and play those songs in the game? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It’s possible to use your own songs in Guitar Hero, but it’s not easy. The GH engine doesn’t just magically create the buttons you have to press while playing, that all has to be done by hand. To use custom songs you have to a) install a mod chip in your game console, b) create new song maps by hand, and c) burn a new copy of Guitar Hero to use that contains the custom content.
