How can I fit EMG battery in my Gibson Explorer Guitar?

I just installed the new solderless 81/85 emg set but I can’t fit the buss or the battery in the control cavity because it’s so narrow. How can I fit them in there?!

Your choices are to either attach it to the back of the guitar or to route out a cavity for it. Explorers have a very large pickguard that covers a lot of solid wood. You can route out a chamber somewhere the pickguard will cover. Optionally, you can route an area on the back of the guitar and drill a hole horizontally to run the wires through and cover the opening with a plastic cover plate. If you’re not good at that sort of thing, have a pro do it. You’re right though, they just won’t fit in the existing openings no how. Keep in mind you’ll have to unscrew and remove the cover to change the battery unless you install it with one of those flip out battery doors (that’s what a pro would likely do).
